Not the most revolutionary drawing to look at, but this is one of my favourites of recent weeks.

     I am still striving to get off the symmetry trap that can occur when the subject is facing me.

   Nick turned his head down slightly, and tilted it by the tiniest amount. It must have been only 2 or 3 degrees, but it was just enough to knock it off the vertical and horizontal lines of symmetry.

This drawing had unintended (positive) consequences, when Anna produced the huge mane of a ponytail that had previously been obscured from my point of view.

    She draped it over her left shoulder, and all of a sudden, the drawing had rhythm and balance, and was no longer boring and symmetrical. 

     It is certainly something I will be on the look out for, from now on.
